Putting the Fun in Fundraiser

Tomorrow is a big day for both of my kids’ schools.

In the morning you can head out to King’s Omelet at 10711 NE Halsey and enjoy breakfast while helping out the 8th graders from Hosford Middle School with their China Research Residency trip this spring. The students are helping out with the table service and will receive 100% of the tips. They’ll be working from 8:00am to 2:30pm, and the food is good, hearty and inexpensive.

The China trip is the culmination of eight years of hard work in the Mandarin program that starts at Woodstock Elementary. The kids work the entire time they are there and put their language skills to the test, as it is up to them to navigate the trains and taxis and hotels and side trips.

Tomorrow night is the big fundraiser for Hawthorne Family Playschool, and one doesn’t need to be affiliated with the school to come. We are having a silent auction and raffle extravaganza, with tons of cool stuff donated from local businesses (how about a wine tasting for 20?!). There will be food, a beer and wine bar, and the best part is the kids won’t be bored because Greasy Kids Stuff will be there! All in all it should be a heck of a lot of fun for everyone. Bring cash or checks! The party is from 5pm - 7pm at Oaks Park Pavilion.

I’d be remiss if I failed to mention the big To Do for the Mandarin Immersion Program - The Gala! Get yourself all fancied up and get your bidding hand warmed up for this fun auction full of great items. February 21st at the Airport Holiday Inn.
