Yesterday on a walk around the neighborhood we saw a life-sized cardboard cutout of Barack Obama in a window of a house. D mused that Obama should choose a running mate with the name Roll, so they could use the campaign theme ‘Barack and Roll’. The theme song? I Love Barack and Roll (Put Another Vote in the Ballot Box, Baby). O thought that was pretty funny, then offered up the following alternative - I Wanna Barack. We spent the rest of the walk singing both songs.
Tonight at dinner O requested guacamole with his taco salad. D was pleased with the prospect, as he is a big fan of all things avocado. D suggested a new name for it - Rockamole. O said, “No! I know! Barackamole!”

I don’t know how many reusable bags you have, but we have at least 15. I never, ever, remember to bring them to the store, and it really pisses me off. Every once in a while I’ll leave one in the car so I’ll have it if I go, but once I bring it in full of groceries, I don’t remember to take it back out to the car. I think maybe check-out clerks should be able to use a tazer on people that don’t bring their own bag. Maybe that would help…
We finally watched Superbad this past weekend. It was filmed all over our high school! They were running the wrong way around the track! A lot of stuff has been filmed there, and it was cool this time to see a significant part of the movie set at p0———–. Okay, the cat did that, trying to stalk my cursor. Set at ESHS. That is what it should say. Silly Sophie.

I have a painting that is going to be a part of the Do North show at Interstate Firehouse Cultural Center. The show is focused on community and is for artists living in North and Northeast Portland. First Thursday reception and public jurying is on May 1, 2008, and the show runs through May 24th.
D just bought some Cornelius kegs, so we can start homebrewing again. Cornelius kegs are usually former soda kegs, but according to the labels two were last used at the now defunct Napa Valley Brewing Company, and one has a St. Stan’s sticker slapped over that. Our first order of business with them is to transfer the remaining beer from our 1/2 barrel of McMenamin’s Nebraska Bitter into a Cornelius - unfortunately the cork dried up and our keg from McMenamin’s is leaking gas from its bung hole.
Man, I’ve been dying to use that line.
Ever saddened that I am not one of the fortunate ones that receives HBO, I still have yet to see an episode of Flight of the Conchords. I can at least now rejoice in the fact that they just released a full length CD. Sweet!

It struck me as odd that one of the few kid’s toys/items one could purchase at the Providence Milwaukie Hospital gift shop was an obnoxiously loud wooden train whistle. Nothing like buying something to keep the kids entertained that they can’t actually play with while they are there.
D spent three days there after he ruptured his appendix. I can’t decide if he was tired of me hogging all the hospital glory, or if it happened because he mentioned that has barely used any of his PTO and boy, he sure does have a lot left. Not sure how much there is now, after the two week mini-vacation.

The addition is complete! Well, nearly…anyway. I’d show you pictures of the completed space, but I have something much cuter to share - our new kitten!
We adopted her from the Humane Society today. O took charge of the naming lists, and settled on the name Sophie, after the girl in Howl’s Moving Castle. She is just 3 months old, barely 2 pounds, and very sweet and friendly.
